The Waegwoltic is a seasonal recreation club located on the Northwest Arm in Halifax.

Not only are we a scenic getaway in the heart of the city, but we also host a multitude of events and programs for our members to attend.

Our property includes tennis courts, outdoor pools, moorings, and 5 buildings.

As a gatehouse attendant, you would be the first person our members and guests see when they visit the Waeg, making having a welcoming presence a must.

This position, like many seasonal positions, starts slow as we open the club, and becomes busier and more demanding as summer hits.

This is the ideal job for university students as we start training as you finish school, and you can continue to work with reduced hours come September.

The start date will depend on individual availability and facilities opening date (varies depending on weather and maintenance). An orientation day for basic training will be held in April/May for all facility departments.

The normal shifts are 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm, with occasional smaller shifts to help out during events/busy days. Availability on at least one day on each weekend is required unless you've approved for time-off. There are full and part-time positions available.

Typical job duties include:

Greeting Members/Guests and checking them into our system.
Taking payment for guest passes.
Answering questions regarding the property such as, open swim times, where to find the restaurant, etc.
Calling the main office to report issues or to find answers you may not know.
Ensuring members have valid membership cards before entering.
Opening front gates in the morning.
Professionalism and a positive attitude.
Experience working with customers.
Excellent time management, as you are often the person to open the property.
Ability to work alone.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, evening and early morning shifts.
