Job Summary

The Construction & Hardscape Labourer is responsible for:

• Performing a large variety of work tasks, usually operating a variety of power tools on various job sites to assist with landscape maintenance and construction projects.
• Construction of walkways and patios, stone walls, greenhouses, installing boulders, mulch, soil, grass seed, changes to garden bed layouts including planting and maintaining garden beds and lawns.
• Operating various hand tools and power equipment.
• Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying.
• Complying with all health and safety regulations, always wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Communicating with customers and coworkers in a polite and courteous manner.
• Maintaining standards of cleanliness and organization in trucks, trailers, equipment, job sites, and shop areas.
• Completing tasks as planned with a focus on working safely and in a responsible manner, providing quality work and production service excellence.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Valid driver's license Class 5 with clean driver's abstract.
• Experience driving Dump Truck, Bobcat and/or Excavator and various heavy equipment.
• Must be able to meet at given location within HRM.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• One or more years' experience in the landscape/construction industry.
• Ability to communicate with customers and coworkers in a polite and courteous manner.
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, and landscape materials.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift.
• Ability to work independently and part of a team with attention to detail, follow instructions, perform work quickly and efficiently while walking, standing, or crouching for long periods of time and complete strenuous physical tasks excellent stamina is required.
• Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.

Job Type:
Fixed term hourly contract; Seasonal-Spring, Summer & Fall


Schedule: 10 hour shifts Monday to Friday - Must be flexible working hours with occasional weekend availability required

$20-$25/hour. Hourly pay-rate will be based on abilities.
