A Superintendent plays a critical role in the successful completion of Milestones projects.

The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring all Milestone projects are diligently managed to ensure safety, quality, cost, schedule, and its resources required.

The Superintendent must be a competent, capable, and confident leader who is extremely safety-conscious, an effective communicator, and is well versed and knowledgeable in civil construction projects and current WorkSafeBC regulations.

  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • What is my role?_
  • Project Leadership_
  • Ensure project execution goes as planned from pre project meeting with Regional Construction Managers (RCM) and Project Managers (PM)
  • Represent field expertise into all project phases.
  • Ensure that daily inspections are being completed and FLHA / tool box / weekly meetings are completed.
  • Clear communication with site inspectors, clients and back to the PM team.
  • Hold daily tool box meeting, SWP reviews, Incident reviews and weekly safety meetings
  • Implementation of quality control programs to ensure the consistent use of industry and organizational best practices.
  • Ensuring that Work orders are completed by 8am the next morning, Prior to daily huddles.
  • Manage unforeseen project changes to ensure positive outcomes reporting to PM's and daily project meetings.
  • Effective coordination of all site staff and contractors to achieve project budget and timeline goals.
  • Work directly with PM's to identify changes in work and report to the RCM
  • Participate at the 70% completion meeting to achieve project goals.
  • Seek and initiate change order opportunities on projects to accommodate both proactive change order process and reactive project adjustments.
  • Effective delegation to foreman's and field staff to ensure smooth project operation.
  • Help PM's with quantity billing at the billing term of each month.
  • Attend daily huddles, bring clear facts and accurate information, request resource needs, PO's and supplies.
  • Ensure material receiving reports are completed in a timely manner after deliveries.
  • Team Leadership_
  • Consistently demonstrate values based leadership to unify and strengthen the Milestone culture on site.
  • Leading proper planning and supports day to day activities and decision making.
  • Effective supervision of foreman and site staff to hit project targets.
  • Ensure the use of proper construction techniques and the maintenance of milestone quality standards across the organization and sites managed
  • Effectively manage multiple projects ensuring that quality and safety standards are not compromised to implement work plans that achieve profit targets and minimize risk.
  • Team development that includes the support and mentorship of foreman / and site staff and help with performance reviews with the RCM.
  • Resource Management_
  • Ensure the efficient use of resources on site, Meeting minimum equipment hours.
  • Identification of equipment needs to ensure the continuous operation on all sites with RCM
  • Recognize material efficiencies across projects.
  • Proactive communication with RCM's to adjust changes.
