QRRC Facility Support Research and Innovation
Quesnel River Research Centre (QRRC), Likely, BC Term, Full-time (May 2024 to April 2026)
Purpose
This position will provide assistance to both the QRRC Operations Manager and QRRC Facility Maintenance by supporting facility maintenance, research and education at the facility. The position will report to the QRRC Operations Manager, who will assign administrative and research support duties. The QRRC Facility Support position will work closely with QRRC Facility Maintenance to assist with groundskeeping, snow removal and maintenance.
Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Providing a functional and safe facility for research and education by helping to maintain the land and maintaining and repairing the physical infrastructure;
•Protecting the assets of the QRRC by assisting with scheduled equipment maintenance and scheduled or emergency maintenance, and responding to on-site equipment emergencies including: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, landscaping, and janitorial work;
•Providing support to the salmon hatchery under the direction of the QRRC Operations Manager;
•Supporting research with a user-oriented approach to assisting with fabrication of devices using metal, plastic, glass and wood, by assisting with experimental set up and sampling, by assisting with research operations as appropriate, and by operating powerboats and mobile equipment such as a Bobcat;
•Maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to all applicable standards; and
•Picking up and delivering supplies, maintenance parts, research materials, equipment and miscellaneous items to/from Williams Lake, Prince George or other BC locations.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following:
•A high school diploma;
•Plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical or other relevant trade certification;
•A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience;
•Groundskeeping or snow removal experience;
•Skid steer operating experience;
•Familiarity of assorted power tools;
•Experience operating a boat; and
•A valid driver's and a boater's license.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Salary
This position has been classified at a Grade 6. The annual salary range for this position is $57,148.00 to $59,495.80 and the normal starting salary will be $57,148.00.
