    Reporting to the Manager of Security, the Security Guard will be responsible for prevention of theft and property vandalism, controlling access to the facility and restricted areas within, maintain order and enforce regulations within the facility.

    Requirements:


    • Secondary school graduate or equivalent

    • Graduate of a Law Enforcement Program from a recognized community college

    • Current license with the Private Security and Investigation Act

    • Minimum 3 years prior security experience

    • Minimum 2 years recent experience with hospital security practices and procedures

    • Police and Criminal Background check

    • Thorough and complete knowledge of all hospital Emergency Codes

    • Demonstrate compliance with and support of hospital and departmental directions and interpretation and compliance with hospital and departmental policy and procedures

    • Ability to deal effectively with the general public

    • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills

    • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle stressful and delicate situations with tact and diplomacy

    • Excellent communication, documentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills and demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.

    • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement

    • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area, including demonstrated understanding of Supervisor Health and Safety Awareness under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)

    • Exposure to LEAN principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and commitment to the use of these in support of departmental operations and corporate objectives

    • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
