Technical Sales Representative

We would love for you to join our team at Island AeroBarrier as a technical sales representative.


In this position, you will have the opportunity to develop your own sales territory by maintaining relationships with current customers and bringing in new ones to drive business.

You will be an ambassador of our company, becoming a trusted advisor to our customers while also adhering to company values and policy.

As a member of our team, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to provide service and support to your customers.

As a technical sales representative, you will advance industry awareness and adoption of the AeroBarrier system.

AeroBarrier is an innovative automated envelope sealing technology that aims to make energy-efficient and high-performance buildings attainable for all builders.

This advanced sealing technology safely and effectively seals an entire building, eliminating the problems and shortcomings of traditional construction techniques and replacing manual labor with an automated, computer-driven, precision-controlled operation.


YOUR COMMITMENT:
Your primary function in the role of Technical Sales Representative is to sell technology-based air sealing services. With knowledge of building science, your secondary role is to support our construction services team in this field.

As such, you must be able to relate to people while having a strong understanding of the technical details of the process, the scientific principles behind them, and how they work with or compare to similar products and services.

You will contribute to Island AeroBarrier's growth and success, all while building and maintaining positive relationships.

  • Conduct a needs assessment of the client's requirements and select the appropriate solution, while illustrating how that solution will reduce costs, increase the client's production, and enhance the product for the end user.
  • Discussing solutions with customers and explaining technical concepts simply
  • Prepare and deliver presentations with technical information about products and services and be able to explain them to prospective clients
  • Finding new customers and creating a sales relationship with potential buyers
  • Maintain contact with existing and prospective clients and respond to business development and sales opportunities
  • Work as part of a team, securing sales, arranging delivery, and in many cases oversee product installations
  • Tracking sales activities and sharing sales information with a manager or team lead
  • Maintain clean and updated records for all leads and customers
  • Actively promote the company's expertise and services
  • Adhere to all company procedures, values and policies so that you provide an accurate representation of the company to all potential and current customers
  • Recruitment, management and retention of technicians

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:


Education/Experience/Professional Designation
Knowledge and experience in building science or related field is a must. Experience in sales, preferably outside sales, is considered an asset. Thorough knowledge of the construction industry, building energy performance, durability, and indoor air quality is preferred.


Interpersonal skills
Interpersonal skills are an important part of being a successful technical sales representative.

You should practice empathy and patience, have a proven track record of building connections with existing and prospective customers, be comfortable networking with potential clients and be effective at leading effective presentations/demonstrations.

Being a self-starter who is responsible and dependable is essential to the role.


Internal motivation
Technical sales require a level of independence. You will be part of a team and will perform a lot of your duties independently. You may need to travel alone to meet with customers and clients. The ability to self-start and self-motivate is essential.


Communication skills
Technical sales representatives need strong and effective communication skills to perform.

You must be skilled in active listening to understand a customer's needs, so you recommend the best solution for each situation.


Problem-solving
As a technical sales representative you will use problem-solving skills to create effective sales solutions.

When a customer discusses a challenge they're facing, your problem-solving skills will help to identify the best product solution for the customer.

You will also need adaptable thinking to handle changes, think quickly, and provide individualized support and guidance.
