Job Summary:


Reporting to the Vice President Finance - Foodbuy, the
Category Finance Manager will be responsible for providing financial support to our Category Management team, helping the organization drive year over year growth in rebate income.

Now if you were to come on board as our
Category Finance Manager, we'd ask you to do the following for us:

  • Manage a team of 4 analysts including updating job descriptions, hiring, training, performance reviews and developing career paths within Compass
  • performance and retention of talented individuals will be a key measure of success
  • Maintain and enhance existing processes and tools used to deliver stakeholder requirements
  • Establish strong relationships with the Category Management team through understanding their business requirements and working through your team to meet these requirements with a focus on accuracy, completeness and timeliness
  • Gain a detailed understanding of our bespoke Supply Chain system used to manage and calculate rebates at an item and transaction level
  • You and your team will be responsible for managing the following processes and activities:
  • Supplier reconciliations to ensure we capture any rebates not correctly billed in previous periods
  • Analysis to resolve supplier disputes and ensure timely payment of rebates by suppliers
  • Manage term sets used within our Supply Chain model to calculate rebates
  • Perform price and rebate analysis to determine the net financial impact of changing terms with suppliers
  • Manual invoicing of suppliers where this is not done through an automated process
  • Perform program change audits to ensure all changes in rebate rates are in line with expectations.

Here's how we'll know you'll be successful in the role:


  • Degree in Finance and Accounting field required
  • Accounting designation i.e. CPA, CMA, CGA strongly preferred
  • Strong attention to detail as well as critical thinking and analytical skills
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, analytically inclined and team player
  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple concurrent deadlines
  • A good business acumen that enables you to quickly understand and deal with unusual situations leading to a favorable outcome
  • Positive attitude with the willingness to accept flexibility in assignments and the desire to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to excel
