In addition to offering confidential advocacy, support, and referral assistance for physicians and trainees, The Physician Health Program of BC (PHP) also participates in wellness initiatives to promote the ongoing health of our professional community.

Physician Health Program


The Physician Health Program (PHP) of British Columbia provides a confidential support and advocacy service for BC physicians, residents, medical students, and their immediate families dealing with personal and/or professional problems.

This program supports helping Doctors of BC achieve its purpose:
making a difference so doctors across the province can make theirs.


THE JOB:

Administrative Assistant, Physician Health Program**Reporting to the Manager of Administrative Support Services the Administrative Assistant, PHP performs administrative tasks which support our physician and non-physician clients which includes other Doctors of BC departments and other external parties as well as the Manager of Administrative Support Service and the wider PHP team.

This position requires strong organizational and proactive coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

As the first point of contact for our clients this role requires someone who has outstanding customer service skills, a high-level of confidentiality and embodies strong sense of helpfulness.

The documentation maintained by this role supports the PHP team, the PHP managers and our clients.

  • Follows and adheres to organizational systems that result in multiple routine yet critical activities to be identified and completed on time.
  • Renegotiates priorities as necessary.
  • Solicits feedback on performance in new tasks.
  • Sets improvement standards to reduce errors, omissions, and oversights.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • High school graduation and some related work experience; OR an equivalent level of related work experience, education and/or training may also be considered
  • Excellent writing skills and proven ability to develop clear, concise and comprehensive written communication
  • Excellent judgment in setting priorities, identifying issues and determining action required when working under pressure and deadlines
  • Superior interpersonal, oral communication and relationship management skills
  • Adept at balancing major concurrent tasks and projects
  • Proven ability to respond to a wide variety of issues and deal with unclear situations and conflicting demands, and to seek leadership direction and support with priority setting when needed
  • Excellent computer skills using Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of the team
