HOURS OF WORK:
35 hours per week
- Association office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Mon-Fri. Typical work week hours may fluctuate depending on the process management functions, employee needs to be flexible to meet the normal demands of the position. Various events outside of normal working hours will need to be attended.
- Flexible Work Arrangements available including time divided between in office, evening, and weekend events, and occasional work from home.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Scope
Under general direction, provides both operational and programmatic support to the Director of Government Relations including administrative/secretarial support, managing schedules, preparing correspondence and reports, and other functions as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute action plans outlined by the Director of Government Relations.
- Provide administrative support for assigned association committees and other distribution groups including composing and sending communication, meeting notes, and posting content on websites.
- Assists the Director of Government Relations with committees and special projects.
- Track lobbying hours and work with the Director of Government Relations to prepare weekly lobby reports.
- Performs general clerical duties to include but not limited to:
- Photocopying, scanning, and faxing
- Drafting letters and memos
- Collecting, sorting, and distributing mail
- Filing hard copy and electronic documents
- Organize all documents and reports within the department
- Assists other staff with assignments and projects on a priority and time available basis.
Government Relations and Policy Support
- Monitor and research history of pertinent legislation and regulation.
- Review drafts of legislature testimony and regulatory comment letters.
- Write Government Affairs Update articles on pertinent issues and update assigned website sections.
- Create briefs, talking points, and other written materials relative to the legislative and regulatory agenda.
- Assist in development of legislative and regulatory proposals and strategies.
- Edit weekly Government Affairs Update before distribution.
- Attend Association and political events.
- Assists in conducting research, making site visits, and finding resources to help the Manager of Operations make decisions about event possibilities.

Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for limited periods of time.
- Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 20 kg or more.
- Talking on the telephone for limited periods of time.
- Extensive keyboarding and computer use; eye strain for limited periods of time (related to computer use).
Good Character
- Must agree to a criminal record check.
