Position Description and Job Duties:


The Department of Geography at McGill University has active research clusters in physical geography -ecohydrology, ecosystem processes and biogeochemistry, geomorphology, remote sensing, and soil science.

We also have research strengths in sustainability science and society, geographical information science, and human geography. Geographers at McGill University conduct field research and modelling studies on landscapes from the tropics to the polar regions.

In addition, there are various cross-university research opportunities in surface climate and biogeochemistry with units such as the Departments of Natural Resource Science (Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science) and the Departments of Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences, and Earth and Planetary Science in the Faculty of Science, the Bieler School of the Environment, and the McGill Sustainable System Institute.

The Department of Geography has BA, B.Sc. and BA & Sc. undergraduate programs and research-based graduate (Masters and Ph.
D.) programs in physical and human geography.


Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Applicants should have a Ph.
D. in Geography or a related field.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate the ability or potential to maintain a vigorous, independent research program, supervise graduate students, and teach introductory and advanced classes in support of the Department's programs.
