Contribute to the administration of justice in a diverse legal environment by bringing your experience, good judgment and initiative to this role within the BC Prosecution Service.


The Legal Office Manager coordinates office administration functions including human resources; leave management; records management and facilities; and provides legal support services to Crown Counsel including redaction services (at the entry level, advanced level or senior level/special assignment level) for the purpose of disclosure to defence counsel.


Job Requirements:


  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent; AND
  • Successful completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Paralegal program; OR
  • A combination of four (4) years of education and administrative support/clerical experience in a legal office.
  • One (1) year or more experience working as a Legal Assistant in a legal office.
  • Experience leading teams or supervising staff, including allocation of work, performance appraisals, etc.
Preference may be given to applicants who have one or more in the following areas:

  • Successful completion of a Legal Assistant certificate or Paralegal certificate.
  • Three (3) years or more of experience working as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in a legal office.
  • One (1) year or more of experience leading teams or supervising staff, including allocation of work, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Experience working as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Office Manager for the BC Prosecution Service.

Proviso/Willingness Statements:


  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
  • Occasional travel within the province is required. Transportation arrangements must meet operational requirements of the ministry.
  • Keep current of emerging issues, trends and technology through ongoing training and education.
  • Take on new projects, tasks and training as required.
  • Work overtime in emergency situations in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.
  • Participate in training and act as a resource in training others.
  • Organize and participate in team building and appreciation activities.
  • Model high standards, strong work ethic and professionalism.
