Position Summary:


The primary function of the Personal Fitness Trainer is to establish fitness goals to help improve the health and wellness of patients within a structured time frame and through gym time.

The Personal Fitness Trainer will set priorities and work effectively with patients whose demands may vary from having little experience with a fitness program, to those rehabilitating from an injury, to those patients looking for sport specific workouts.

If the patient is prescribed stretches or general conditioning from a physiotherapist or other health care professionals the Personal Fitness Trainer will ensure the patient is correctly performing the recommended exercises.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Educate patients to help them understand the importance of a well-rounded fitness program including all fitness components.
  • Design a balanced workout routine for patients.
  • Demonstrate exercises and ensure the patient is able to perform them correctly.
  • Oversee and monitor patients to ensure they are safe at all times.
  • Ensure weight machines/equipment work correctly. Report any problems.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations of the facility and provide feedback to patients.

Experience and Qualifications:


  • Current Personal Trainer Certification with valid insurance.
  • Prior on the job experience utilizing specialized fitness knowledge and skills.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Previous personal training experience.
  • Graduated from High School or equivalent.
  • An approved Criminal Records Check.
  • Current computer skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work with mínimal supervision and manage time effectively.
  • A high degree of initiative and willingness to assist in any area required.
  • Ability to deal effectively and compassionately with patients in many capacities with a variety of demands.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12 Step Programs.
  • Must respect all aspects of patient confidentiality.
