Position Summary:


Working as part of the leadership team, this position is responsible for ensuring that resident care exceeds standards and expectations.

This position supports the home's Infection Prevention and Control program (IPAC), including infection surveillance, outbreak prevention and management, quality improvement and safety related to IPAC practices, and will educate and coach staff on appropriate IPAC practices.

The position supports all aspects of resident admissions, including liaising with residents and family members pending admission, and throughout the admission process.

Oversees and coordinates the RAI MDS processes in accordance with MOHLTC regulations monitoring and supporting all staff to ensure accuracy of data and takes corrective action as necessary.

The position provides leadership to the staff teams, ensuring the implementation of best practice approaches to resident care.


Employment Guide:


  • Prior leadership experience in geriatric, rehabilitation or longterm nursing preferred.
  • Ability to work within legislation pertinent to the operations of a health care facility including the Long-Term Care Homes Act and other Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statutes which influence the operation of Nursing Services and resident care.
  • Proven ability to coach and train others and demonstrate a passion for engaging employees and promoting a supportive and productive work culture.
  • Must demonstrate approachable and professional demeanour and have a sound understanding and empathy for the needs of seniors and their families.
  • Have experience in quality improvement, adult education is beneficial. Knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics and microbiology and the ability to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice would be a significant asset.
  • Must demonstrate effective leadership, communication and problemsolving skills, with the ability to educate and support employees.
  • Flexibility to work or support all three shifts is required, as well as participating in the home's oncall leader rotation.
  • Member of National Infection Control Association (IPAC Canada) is beneficial, and current CPR and First Aid is required.
