_AMHS-KFLA is seeking an Information Services Specialist who is enthusiastic and passionate about providing Information Technology support for our staff team.

Reporting in through a unique and collaborative structure, our Information Services Specialist reports to a manager that is shared between two local community-based healthcare providers, Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC) and AMHS-KFLA.

This structure provides an opportunity to enhance knowledge and capacity and supports our vision to provide responsive, high-quality IT Servies and Systems support across both organizations.

The teams are further supported through a shared managed service provider and state of the art ticketing and tracking system to bring continuous service improvement to the staff groups we support.

Job Summary:


Working under the direction of the Information Services Manager, the IS Specialist is a key member of the team responsible for supporting the information technology and systems of AMHS-KFLA.

This includes assisting Agency End Users to resolve issues with any Agency supported software, hardware, and phones in a timely and professional manner, utilizing established troubleshooting protocols.

The incumbent will be responsible for oversight and coordination of information services support for the Agency.

In addition, they are the primary provider of on-site support for multiple sites and work closely with the Agency's Managed Service Provider (MSP) which may require supporting scheduled routine maintenance, software license monitoring, new hardware and software testing and deployment etc.

They will also support problem resolution and planning by utilizing resources such as the internet and technical manuals to research issues.

All services are provided in accordance with the mission, vision and established policies and protocols of the Agency.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Relevant postsecondary education; bachelor's degree or college diploma in computer sciences or information technology field of study.
  • 3 years' experience providing enduser and/or IT systems support in a clientserver/cloud services environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Relevant IT certifications (e.g. Microsoft, server, cloud, network etc.), an asset.
  • Experience in a health care, community care, or addiction and mental health services, an asset
  • French Language proficiency considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Good general knowledge of a broad range of IT systems, networks and processes.
  • Strong communication skills (written/verbal) and the ability to adapt the approach as needed to individual staff needs.
  • Ensures effective resolution of issues by utilizing strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with a positive customer service mindset.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills with an ability to meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Must be task oriented, with the ability to work with mínimal supervision as required as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with an ability to follow written and verbal instruction, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement through professional growth and development of self and others.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours on occasion, if required.
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check.
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver's license.
