Position Overview:

  • The Manager, Facility and Energy Management position provides leadership and guidance to the Facilities Asset and Energy Management Section staff to affect a high standard of service delivery related to facility asset management, capital project planning, space planning and energy management. This position provides input with respect to planning, financial resourcing, resource management and employee relations.

Responsibilities:


  • Provides ongoing Facilities Asset Management program oversight and development, in collaboration with Corporate Asset Management.
  • Manages Facilities capital planning process and develops Facilities Capital program.
  • Ensures coordination between stakeholders to develop facility capital project plans and initiate projects.
  • Works with City stakeholders to analyze and assess current and future space needs and develops forecast.
  • Evaluates various space utilization and workplace strategies, developing an innovative approach to overall effective space usage.
  • Develops plan to reduce facilities energy and GHG emissions in coordination with Corporate Sustainability Office.
  • Develops policy and procedures for incorporating energyefficient equipment and upgrades into existing City facilities; approves plans; monitors implementation.
  • Ensures Facilities energy use is monitored, and regulated reporting requirements are met.
  • Manages the City's Building Controls/Automation portfolio and provides direct input to the strategic, administrative, and financial planning of the Division, including capital budgets, operating budgets, and forecast preparation.
  • Requirements:
  • Minimum 3-year degree or diploma in related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Facilities asset management and capital project planning processes.
  • Knowledge of current Energy Management technologies and strategies.
  • Previous experience managing employees within unionized work environments.
  • Knowledge of Construction Project Management Processes and Practices and of Construction Laws and the Ontario Building Code.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.

  • 2-Year Diploma (or 2-Year Specialized Post Secondary Program) with minimum 7 years'
- related and relevant experience
  • OR 4Year Honours Degree with minimum 2 years' related and relevant experience

  • The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_
  • 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent fulltime, temporary full_time and parttime classifications._
  • 2. within the same Division in the case of students."_
