Job Summary
A School Bus Dispatcher is responsible for real-time communication with drivers, school district personnel and parents for daily routes, trips and extra-curricular activities of students for our clients.
Job Duties
- Oversee the routing and scheduling of School Buses and their drivers.
- Assign vehicles and ensure a proper distribution of equipment is available.
- Act as front line support for drivers with issues related to routes, vehicles, customer service inquiries and complaints.
- Escalate incidents to the proper authority.
- Follow company policies regarding pupil/client management and relations with parents, teachers, guardians, and the public in general.
- Assist operation Manager with monthly billing, payroll, account receivables, account payables and month end requirements.
- Assist manager in implementing driver recruitment programs to ensure coverage of daily hometoschool routes and sufficient substitute personnel.
- As required, assist manager in driver disciplinary matters.
- Assist manager in ensuring all drivers complete all necessary jobrelated training and planning driver safety meetings.
- Responsible for carrying out all Company policies and provincial applicable regulations.
- Knowledge of contents of School District contracts.
- Answering phones and twoway company radios in a professional and courteous manner.
- Communicating with stakeholders regarding calendars, complaints, bus incidents. Communicating with parents regarding issues and concerns.
- Assist manager in development of charter business during nonschool days and summer months.
- Ability to start very early mornings and/or work later afternoons; Operation Manager will assign schedule on a weekly basis.
- All other various and miscellaneous duties as assigned by Management.
- Will be required to cover School Bus routes on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high volume Dispatch setting or similar volume based role
- Possess or willing to obtain a valid Class-B license (free license upgrade offered for STC)
- Successfully pass a commercial driver's medical.
- Meet pertinent vision standards.
- Pass requirements for classB written and road tests.
- Successfully obtain First Aid & CPR certification.
- Must be capable of learning to communicate effectively with a 2way radio
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
