The Royal Victoria Yacht Club (RVYC) is searching for a part-time 1st Cook who will assist the Executive Chef in managing a team in preparing the food services for its members and guests. The First Cook will be a dynamic, experienced person ensuring the proficient operation of the kitchen and Food and Beverage department.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan menus for all areas of the Club considering current market conditions, seasons, holidays, dish popularity and variety of other factors
  • A working "hands on leader" of the kitchen team assisting the Executive Chef in daily tasks.
  • Customer service, promoting professional attitude, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and ensuring the standards of the Club are upheld.
  • Maintain controls to minimize food and supply waste / theft
  • Develop recipes, food presentation techniques and presentation.
  • Portion control and control of margins in selling price

Skills and requirements

  • Will be required to work on evenings and weekends
  • Ability to multi task, plan and assign duties
  • Experience of 2+ years in a similar position.

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent


Salary:
$24.00-$27.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:

  • Overtime pay
  • Tips

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Victoria, BC V8R 6H1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:


  • Cooking: 2 years (required)
