Role Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President & Senior Counsel, you will be a key member of the legal team providing support to our Canadian business units by providing practical and timely legal advice on tactical and strategic business issues. You will work closely with a group of legal professionals and business leaders on a range of matters primarily focused on individual insurance products, including individual life, living benefits, and reinsurance. Your work will be wideranging, including product development, contract drafting, and advising on policy and regulatory matters, proving you with the opportunity to develop expertise in dynamic practice areas. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly accomplished team of legal professionals supporting one of Canada's leading financial services companies.

_Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations:
London, Toronto, or Winnipeg_

Accountabilities:

Work collaboratively with business and functional partners to provide practical, riskbased legal advice on a wide range of matters,
Support existing individual insurance life products and product development, including contract drafting, policy administration, and general internal legal support for term, universal life, permanent insurance products, and reinsurance.
Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements related to applicable Canada Life insurance products and advise on regulatory requirements and developments.

Qualifications and Competencies:

Law Degree, Member of a Provincial Bar in good standing
Minimum 3 years of relevant legal work experience (law firm or inhouse)
Knowledge and experience with life and health insurance products an asset
Selfmotivated with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a practical solutionoriented approach
Demonstrated superior skill in legal drafting, including agreements and contracts
Ability to proactively bring projects to completion
Highly focused with attention to detail
Proven analytical and problemsolving skills with experience simplifying and resolving complex problems
Superior organizational and time management skills with experience handling multiple projects at once
Willingness to learn new topics and work in an evolving business environment
