Job Title:
Communications Coordinator (Temporary student position: May-August)


Reports to:
Communications Specialist

The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the communication initiatives of the BC Trucking Association (BCTA).

This role will work closely with our Communications Specialist to create and implement initiatives to drive engagement, increase awareness of the Association, and promote our mission and values.


Who We Are:


BCTA is a member-based, province-wide, non-partisan, non-profit motor carrier association formed solely to advance the interests of motor carriers in BC.

Founded in 1913, BCTA includes among its members for-hire and private carriers hauling every conceivable type of freight. We also represent motor coach, courier, and waste management companies and suppliers to the industry.

Through consultation and communication with our industry, government, and the public, BCTA promotes a safe, efficient, and responsible commercial road transportation industry that contributes to the economy of British Columbia.

The Role:


  • Support the development of BCTA's communications plan
  • Assist in the development of a variety of promotional materials (digital and print)
  • Develop digital marketing campaigns, including creating and scheduling content across all social media platforms
  • Create photography and videography content; working closely with staff and Association members as needed
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies. Develop monthly report and suggest improvements
  • Update and maintain the BCTA website
  • Develop reporting on key performance metrics to assess effectiveness of website and make recommendations for improvements
  • Conduct market research to stay current with industry trends, identify opportunities, and make recommendations for new digital marketing initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with other BCTA employees to ensure that communication initiatives align with overall goals of the association
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events and other BCTA initiatives
  • Other duties as required by the Association

What You'll Bring:


  • Enrolled in relevant postsecondary education such as communications, marketing, public relations, or related field with intermediate competency of the fundamentals of marketing and communication
  • Experience analyzing and using data and metrics to measure impact and to determine ways to improve our messaging and effective use of communications tools
  • Experience with developing and scheduling content for a variety of social media platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms including Hootsuite, and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator
  • Website editing skills (preferably Drupal but not mandatory)
