Electrical Design Specialist - Cambridge, Canada - RidgeTech Automation

We are looking to add an Electrical Design Specialist to our growing teamJob Summary
- Primarily responsible for executing control systems design of projects
- Develop electrical schematics including specifying hardware and components
- Develop hydraulic and pneumatic system design packages
- Develop and verify safety systems: understanding safety risk assessments and the PSHR/PSR process
- Executing project management responsibilities as required
- Manage small and large project workflows through the entire design system process
- Manage client relationships to uphold project quality and retain clients for future projects
- Mentor and train other team members
- Uphold safe work practices as per RidgeTech Automation's Health & Safety Program
- Other tasks as assigned by the Account Manager or Team Lead
Required Experience and Skills
- Post-Secondary Education in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or Robotics & Automation
- Previous experience in the Controls and Automation industry is required
- Knowledge of electrical design fundamentals following ANSI and IEC guidelines
- Exhibits a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Ability to effectively communicate with both clients and team members
- Highly motivated with an ability to manage tasks, work efficiently, and collaborate with others
- A proven track record of strong analytical and problemsolving skills
Optional Experience and Skills
- Knowledge of CSA, NEC and local ESA and OSHA standards
- 2D and 3D CAD development in AutoCAD (Electrical), SolidWorks, EPLAN and other software packages
- Complete understanding of project workflow including design/process/programming reviews, FAT, SAT, final documentation and closing out projects
- Programming and/or design knowledge of multiple software platforms, networks, and IO systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, etc.)
- Exposure to motor control, servos, steppers, robotics, and multiaxis systems
- Peripheral systems including vision systems, marking systems, weld systems, material handling, etc.
- Exposure to various automation processes (automotive, food and beverage, agricultural, mining, pharmaceutical, etc.)
- Working knowledge of environmental and washdown ratings such as IP/NEMA and HD (Hygienic Design) standards
