Location:
Kitchener, ON

Base Salary Range:
$60k - $70k Annual Salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

Overview

We are also the founders of a community-based energy investment vehicle. The CED Co-op allows all Ontarians to invest and take part in building solutions to combat climate change.

The Co-op has raised over $24 million in investments from its 800+ members, on its way to developing a portfolio of over $45 million of renewable energy projects.

We are proud that CED Co-op is the first co-operative in Canada to become a public corporation, enabling these investments to be held in RRSP, RESP, TFSA and RRIF investment portfolios.

Future projects under development for the Co-op include community-based net-metering and potentially building efficiency projects such as geo-thermal heating and cooling, EV charging-as-a-service plus many more areas of opportunity.

Leading solar and energy project development, the Business Development Specialist will develop opportunities to design, engineer, and construct commercial scale solar power generation and energy storage projects.

This position involves working out of our Kitchener office under the direction of the Business Development Manager. Come make an impact in our organization as we make an impact on the future of renewable energy.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Become the champion of distributed solar energy generation and energy independence for industrial, commercial, and institutional facility operators.
  • Originate and qualify project opportunities with values typically in the range of $200k to $1 million.
  • Research existing and develop new target industries, forming channel strategies to reach more customers while increasing sales by quarter.
  • Organize and respond to inbound inquiries regarding solar netmetering and energy storage projects.
  • Engage with existing customers, listening for needs, identifying additional business opportunities
  • Develop compelling project and sales proposals for new and existing clients
  • Generate sales leads through bestinclass customer interaction including persistent, timely and organized followup on leads, requests and proposals
  • Analyzing GIS and other data sources to identify potential customers
  • Build strategic relationships to understand and be at the forefront of the electricity market, respond to changes coming to the competitive landscape and identify new opportunities

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related business, environmental or policy related field.
  • 3+ Years of business development or sales experience in direct or reasonably related field.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization, including executives.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, time management, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop multiple creative alternatives for problem resolution.
  • Able to work independently with tight timelines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, customer care and superior quality of work

Additional Skills, Abilities and Qualifications that would be an asset:

  • Experience in sustainability project development processes.
  • Experience with or understanding of renewable energy systems and/or electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of energy regulatory and environmental policy frameworks.
  • Experience with or understanding of construction and/or project development.
  • Experience working with, consulting engineering, architecture or property management industries.
  • Experience in complementary technologies to solar power (battery and energy storage, airsource and groundsource heat pumps, electric vehicle integration and/or fleet electrification, etc.)
  • Experience developing sales and pricing tools to streamline proposal development
