The Ministry of Health is responsible for maintaining an accessible, high quality, affordable system for health service delivery that meets the needs of the citizens of the Province of BC.

Its mandate is to support and enhance a responsive, comprehensive, regionalized health care system that promotes and provides for the physical, mental community health of all British Columbians.


The Finance and Corporate Services Division supports the Ministry Executive and programs by managing and ensuring a consistent approach to financial and corporate issues.


The services are provided through five branches:
Financial Operations, Financial Analysis and Decision Support, Regional Grants and Decision Support, Audit and Investigations, and Logistics Strategy.

These branches provide financial advice and assist programs to meet their strategic goals and operational plans, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and central agency directives.


Within the Financial Analysis and Decision Support Finance Branch, the Financial Analyst is a key financial expert supporting various divisions within the Ministry.

Highly organized, self-driven and detail oriented, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for budget development and management, financial reporting, analysis and monitoring of ministry capital and expenditures, as well as other related duties, in accordance with generally accepted accounting standards and financial policies.

The Financial Analysts needs to possess strong interpersonal skills to support working with staff at all levels of government, as well as external agencies regarding financial matters.

Reporting to the Budget Manager, the Financial Analyst will draw on their energetic and positive attitude to work with and support staff within the Branch, Division, and Ministry as well as external providers.

Job Requirements:


  • Post-Secondary Diploma or greater in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Public Administration,
    and a minimum of one year experience in two or more of the related work experience listed below.
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Related experience includes:


  • Experience monitoring budgets/forecasts and providing variance explanations.
  • Experience in coordinating and compiling financial data in an electronic environment.
  • Experience providing client service in a financial environment.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements and recommending reallocations.
  • Experience in Corporate Financial Systems (Oracle), including CFS Reporting and Data Warehouse.
