JOB SUMMARY:


  • Provide management to retail and direct finance sales activities which have been established to provide Caterpillar and the dealer organization with assistance in the sale of Caterpillar products through use of Caterpillar Financial Limited financing and leasing alternatives.
  • Promote Caterpillar Commercial Account "CCA" and Caterpillar Financial Insurance Services "CFIS" products to enhance POPS-C growth for Caterpillar and Caterpillar dealers. In addition to increasing the earning assets for the company, the Area Manager will be responsible for managing the new business volume production, CCA volume, Gross Premiums Written, PODD and transaction profitability of Territory Managers and Area Sales Operations Managers.
  • Must engage Caterpillar business unit partners and senior dealer management on strategic and tactical approaches to achieve or sustain market leadership and enhanced customer loyalty for Caterpillar products.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manages assigned resources in an autonomous and cost effective manner to assure achievement of profit objectives.
  • Develops annual business plans, allocates appropriate resources, leads territory managers and Area Sales Operations Managers "ASOMs" to ensure plan achievement, and monitors and reports performance against plan. Identifies training and development needs of territory managers and ASOMs. Consistently, reinforces safety guidelines and the importance of adherence to all safety guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with NABC, Caterpillar business unit partners, other manufacturers and referral sources, dealers and endusers through regular visits and communication.
  • Manages Dealer retail and wholesale acquisitions and direct business to achieve volume and market penetration objectives.
  • Identifies and provides direction on large lease/finance transactions including structuring, negotiating, and closing transactions as required by making major customer presentations. Evaluates individual lease/finance transactions to establish structure and pricing. Identifies and develops special Dealer/Business Unit focus programs to meet the needs of an Area's markets.
  • Travels to dealer and customer locations to promote the products and services of Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation.
  • Monitors and analyzes competitive situations in the financial marketplace, and in order to increase market penetration, develops and implements promotional activities, approves promotional activities and/or makes recommendations for promotional activities to corporate support departments.
  • Approves and recommends finance/lease pricing, and manages communications to customers and dealers.
  • Coordinates activities directed at the promotion and marketing of Caterpillar Financial Insurance Services (CFIS) products to Caterpillar dealers and end users. Through assigned resources, assists CFIS in meeting revenue objectives.
  • Promotes the usage of CCA for parts, service and rental including all CCA merchandising programs
  • Manages extension of customer credit approvals to assure proper exposure level, quality of portfolio, proper lien perfection, and documentation.
  • Protects company assets.
  • Ensures timely completion of equipment audits.
  • Supports the portfolio management activity conducted by the respective operations centers to assure acceptable delinquency results and mínimal losses, timely and orderly liquidation of repossessions and terminated accounts, timely completion of field audits, and all customer service activities related to the receivable portfolio.
  • Trains and develops company personnel for increased responsibility and efficient office operation. Manages the development and delivery of training programs for employees and dealers. Interviews and hires employees, manages the performance evaluation process, and manages personnel related matters.
  • Engages in all Sales Excellence initiatives and ensures TM and ASOM compliance.
