JOB INFORMATION:


  • This posting is for current and upcoming opportunities which may involve working night shifts with Thursday/Friday as off days and various work reporting locations (primarily Davisville Yard), which may vary as directed by work assignments

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Performing subway cleaning duties including air vents, track inverts, tile walls, sumps, track drains, maintenance holes, columns, catwalks, platforms, tunnel walls, and sweeping track level and tunnel areas;
  • Operating, maintaining and performing minor servicing on compressors, generators, power washers, vacuums, low pressure water jetters, chipping guns, vibrating equipment and accessories;
  • Setting up and dismantling scaffolds;
  • Setting barricades, track level warning devices (e.g. lights and/or flags) in strict accordance with TTC safety regulations;
  • Performing flag person duties at various job sites in order to warn crews of oncoming trains or traffic, and direct vehicular traffic or trains safely around or through the work site, as required;
  • Performing snow removal duties both manually and mechanically at track and street level, as required;
  • Operating a truck that may exceed 11,000kg (G.V.W.) which may include a towed vehicle not exceeding 4,600kg (G.V.W.) to transport tools, materials and personnel to work sites (excluding vehicles which are operated by Structure Rehabilitation Vehicle Operators);
  • Conducting pre and post vehicle and equipment service checks (i.e. check hoses, lights, brakes, cables, tightening nuts, greasing, toppingup oil and fluids, etc.), reporting servicing or repair requirements to supervisory staff and completing appropriate forms. Ensuring the vehicle and equipment are kept in a state of cleanliness both inside and out;
  • Fuelling vehicles and equipment, as required;
  • Loading and unloading vehicles manually or by using overhead shop cranes or similar hoisting equipment, as required;
  • Performing type 1 or type 2 asbestos cleanup and removal, as required;
  • Perform work car monitoring duties, as assigned;
  • Assist with minor maintenance and repair work on station, tunnel and bridge structures, etc.;
  • Assisting with the cutting out, chipping and removing deteriorated concrete, etc.;
  • Assisting with the layout and placement of reinforcing steel;
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Require training obtained through the completion of Grade 10;
  • Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating and safety regulations;
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally in order to exchange information and instructions with the Transit Control Centre, supervisory and unionized personnel;
  • Must have practical experience and knowledge of mechanical and structural maintenance; placement of concrete; use of concrete and grouting materials; concrete repairs to track inverts; maintenance and use of auguring, snaking and pressure washing equipment.
  • Must have a valid Class "G" Province of Ontario Driver's Licence.
  • Must be certifiable to wear breathing apparatus as per the respiratory protection program;
  • Must attend and successfully complete training programs for Subway/SRT Rulebook, Surface Rulebook, first aid, CPR, WHMIS, scaffold safety, fall protection awareness, transportation of dangerous goods, asbestos awareness, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and silica awareness, respiratory protection, spills training and other training as it relates to adherence to TTC policies, procedures, legislation and Acts, etc. and attend confined space training as required;
  • May be required to attain certification for vacuum car operations and if necessary, pass the written and practical tests required for a class "DZ" Ontario driver's licence;
