We are looking for a jack-of-all-trades maintenance person to join our team

With an ability to proactively take responsibility & accomplish tasks on-time with a minimum of supervision, having a desire to learn new skills, being on-time to start each day and treat colleagues the same way you yourself would want to be treated;

Compensation:
_From_ $17.50 / hr, but also commensurate with experience.

Job Summary_:

Your primary responsibilities include:

Fueling equipment, checking all fluid levels and topping levels when necessary
Cleaning the inside of tractors undergoing maintenance or repair
Regularly cleaning the outside of tractors & trailers using high pressure cleaning equipment as well as handapplied cleaning solutions and protective waxes
Performing minor repairs to vehicles & equipment, such as replacing / changing license plates, windshield wipers, light bulbs, etc.
Maintaining the cleanliness of the repair & maintenance facility
Grounds maintenance: All activities necessary to keep the property's outdoor areas clean, safe & orderly. This will include maintaining outside lighting, cutting the lawn, pruning or trimming when necessary, removing dead vegetation & weeds, watering, and snow removal around the building's doors & access points.
Other duties assigned as needed, including parts pickup with company truck, driving other employees to various locations, etc.
Positive, "getitdone" attitude. You are someone who comes up with possible solutions to a new problem before speaking to your supervisor.
A willingness to learn (there will be opportunities as your skillset improves)
Ability to communicate in French or English (bilingual is good)
An ability to function well as part of a team
Diligent attention to safety
Valid driver's license (Ontario "G" license or Québec Class 5 license) strongly preferred
General knowledge of health & safety in the workplace

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Safety is paramount no exceptions
Frequent walking of the yard & maintenance facilities, bending at the knees, climbing into tractors & onto tankers, etc. This is a physical job.
Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasionally assisting with lifting up to 100 lbs.
Working inside & outside;

- adaptable to Ottawa's environment summer & winter

Extra Opportunity

If you are someone who is technically inclined but without a great deal of experience, this is the opportunity for you.

"Equipment Maintenance" will include performing relatively small repairs as well, such as swapping out broken lights / light fixtures on trucks, replacing missing mud-flaps, fixing placard holders, tightening anything on a truck or trailer that is loose, etc., etc.

As your skills grow and you are able to take responsibility for more involved repairs, so too will your compensation

We have men & women who started with our company being responsible for 'equipment & facilities maintenance' and who with time moved on to being a technician / mechanic, or to operating a tractor-trailer, or working as a member of our accounting / administration group.
