Viacore Rouyn-Noranda is seeking a few good people to join our field installations team. This is your chance to learn a new skill set, perform interesting and challenging work, and work in a well-established team environment—all without having to obtain a skilled trades ticket

Responsibilities and Duties

Perform vulcanizing on conveyor belts, including preparing and splicing belts to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Conduct regular and preventative maintenance on various types of conveyor systems, ensuring they are operating efficiently and effectively.
Adjust and align conveyor belts to prevent wear and tear and to ensure smooth operation.
Identify worn or damaged conveyor components and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
Assist in upgrading conveyor systems with new technology or components to enhance efficiency and safety.
Respond to emergency breakdowns and quickly troubleshoot and repair conveyor systems to minimize downtime.
Conduct thorough inspections of conveyor systems to identify and address any potential safety hazards.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients on the optimal use and maintenance of their conveyor systems.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for each conveyor system serviced.
Work collaboratively with other service technicians and teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to conveyor system maintenance and repair.

Qualifications and Skills

Must have a current and valid driver's license.
E

xperience in the conveyor service or mechanical trade is highly regarded Education:

Completion of high school education is required. Additional post-secondary education is considered beneficial.
E

xperience in conveyor system servicing, maintenance, or a closely related mechanical field is preferred. This may include courses or certifications in conveyor belt vulcanizing, system installation, and maintenance techniques.

Proficiency in both vulcanizing and mechanical splicing methods, adapting techniques based on belt type and usage requirements. This includes hot and cold vulcanization, as well as fastener installation for mechanical splices.
E

xperience in installing new conveyor belts and ensuring proper alignment, tensioning, and tracking to maximize belt life and system efficiency.

Identifying wear and damage on conveyor belts and executing timely repairs using patching, vulcanizing, or replacing sections of the belt.
Conducting detailed inspections of conveyor belts to assess their condition, identify potential issues, and recommend maintenance or replacement strategies.
Adherence to safety protocols specific to belting work, including the safe handling of tools and materials, and awareness of the risks associated with conveyor system maintenance.
Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to belt slippage, misalignment, and wear patterns, ensuring mínimal downtime and maintaining system performance.
Maintaining accurate records of belting maintenance, repairs, and replacements, along with documenting any modifications or adjustments made to the conveyor system.
Providing guidance and advice to clients on proper conveyor belt maintenance and operation, and potentially conducting training sessions on belting maintenance techniques.
Fluent in French and English
