Summer Daycamp Leader-2024 - Calgary, Canada - Westside Recreation Centre

Westside is currently recruiting for summer daycamp leaders. This is a seasonal/temporary position with full time, part time and on call options available.
This is an exciting, hands-on leadership role and includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
- To supervise, lead and instruct summer daycamps for children ages 312Y in group games, sports, physical literacy, performing arts, crafts, swimming and more
- To provide a safe, fun and quality daycamp experience
- To provide leadership to campers of all ages and abilities
- Supervision of leaders in training and volunteers
- To complete all the required daycamp lesson planning and evaluation of camps
- Actively and enthusiastically participate in all aspects of the daycamps
- Setup/takedown, cleaning and general maintenance of equipment
- Administrative duties as required
- Day to day risk management skills
- Group control and behavior management of campers
Summer daycamps run from July 2- Aug 30th, 2024
- Mandatory training will commence in June 2024 (dates below)
- Sports & Physical Literacy 3-15Y (Full time, part time and on-call positions available)
- Preschool 26Y includes sports and movement, crafts, group games, circle time (Full time, part time and oncall positions available)
- General Camps 612Y includes traditional camp activities like swimming, outdoor games and themed activities (Full time, part time and oncall positions available)
Full Time Positions:
- Must be available a minimum of 7 out of 9 weeks of summer season (July 2
- Aug 30, 2024)
- Full time daycamp leaders will be scheduled to work 3542 hours per week
Part Time Positions:
- Must be available a minimum of 5 out of 9 weeks of summer season (July 2
- Aug 30th, 2024)
- Part time daycamp leaders will be scheduled to work varying hours as needed
On-Call Positions:
- Must be available a minimum of 4 out of 9 weeks of the summer season (July 2
- Aug 30th, 2024)
- Oncall leaders will be scheduled to work varying hours as needed
Requirements:
- Must have open availability for mandatory training from June 20 through to June 27th, 2024 (Times vary
- Must be available for inperson or virtual interviews. Various interview options available including daytime, evening and weekend. Interviews will begin prior to closing date.
- Must have current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency
- CSA Standard Z Intermediate First Aid and must be valid through to Aug 30th, 202
- Successful applicant must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Search completed at their own cost
Experience and Qualifications:
- 2+ years previous experience in working with children in a recreation daycamp setting or equivalent
- Relevant certifications (such as NCCP/High 5) considered an asset
- Education, experience and certifications in physical literacy and fundamental movement skills considered an asset
- Early childhood education (ECE Level 1) & similar certifications considered an asset
