About the Opportunity:

VRH opened its doors to patients in 1992.

The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents.

Responsibilities:

- work as a full scope of practice orthopedic surgeon providing care to the patients within Western Zone
- participate in call shifts
- support Nova Scotia Health in advancing the delivery of orthopedic surgery care by liaising with the applicable staff within the zone and province
- offer consultation support to Western Zone, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- be accountable to the patient population in Western Zone by providing clinics and occasional satellite clinics that will require travel
- responsible to the Zone Surgery Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health

Expected Hours:

- part-time, permanent
- on-call

Qualifications:

- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
