About the role

This role is focused on underwriting transportation risks within the casualty department.

As a transportation specialist, you will be responsible for driving profitable results within this niche industry class on a national level.

Within scope for role will be interactions with various internal business units including other underwriting teams, claims, actuarial as well as external relationship management with brokerages and producers.

As part of a small team, your efforts will be noticed as you play a significant role in the portfolio results and direction.


What you need to know:

  • Underwrite Canadian Auto policies including Owned Auto, Non-Owned Auto, Garage, Lessor's Contingent and CGL policies.
  • Responsible for analyzing the risk and ensuring compliance with Casualty underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Production of profitable new, and renewal business.
  • Provide superior customer service to brokers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with our broker partners.
  • Participate in special underwriting projects as needed.
  • Provide mentoring and training to underwriters.

What we're looking for:

  • Atleast 10 years of experience in casualty and auto underwriting Transportation risks.
  • Knowledgeable on the transportation industry, litigation trends in Canada and USA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decisionmaking skills.
