The
Commodities Specialist plays a vital role in coordinating the movement of commodities within the warehouse, overseeing all material flow stages to ensure effective decision-making, data capture, performance tracking, and overall profitability.

This involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, necessitating a thorough understanding of Quantum's Systems, Processes, and Commodities.

In this position, the primary focus is on managing the flow of commodities in and out of the warehouse, covering Upstream Sales, Processing, and Downstream Sales.

The goal is to facilitate decision-making, capture essential data, assess lot performance, and enhance overall profitability.

To fulfill these responsibilities, the Commodities Specialist works closely with internal teams, supports Trading, Business Development, and Operations staff, acts as a link between different departments, and becomes an expert in grading commodities and system usage.


Key Responsibilities:


Upstream Sales

  • Actively coordinate the receipt of inbound commodity lots, collaborating with Trading, Sales, Logistics, Receiving, and Account Management teams.
  • Ensure the smooth reception of commodities that align with operational requirements and customer expectations.
  • Understand all handled commodities, nuances in customer transactions, and collaborate with various departments to meet obligations and SLAs.
  • Engage with stakeholders and implement specific instructions from Trading staff during commodity reception.
  • Grade commodities, tag skids, and train receivers.
  • Coordinate with different teams to avoid discrepancies in receiving.

Additional Contributions:


  • Develop a customerfacing skillset for directly managing commodities accounts or providing commodity pricing support to the business development team, contributing to increased volume capture.
  • Continuous learning, adaptability, and effective communication are crucial for successful coordination among different teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education in a criticalthinkingpromoting field; Preferred: University
  • Preferred: 35 years of related experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player with a focus on hardworking teamdriven setups.
  • Methodical and logical thinking.
  • Critical analysis and problemsolving abilities.
  • Detailoriented and organized.
  • Time management and multitasking skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; Basic financial math and statistics a plus.
