As we continue to grow we are looking to add a
Health and Safety Advisor to the Scandi Family This is a permanently hybrid position with 3 days a week in office and 2 days a week working from home.


This position is a full time permanent role based out of our Woodbridge office Monday to Friday 8am - 4:30pm. There will be travel involved 2 days a week to sites within 1 hour of the GTA and overnight travel for 2 nights every quarter across Ontario.

What your day to day will look like:

Reporting into the Director of Health and Safety you will be in the office 3 days a week and the other 2 days a week on sites and working from home. This role will be supporting Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic depending on new client launches or audits there can be outside of province travel of up to 30%

Hazard Assessments, Inspections, and Audits

  • Conduct Inspections at regional offices and warehouses including fire extinguisher inspections, and weekly site visits for equipment inspections developing site specific hazard assessments
  • Support the Health and Safety team with internal and external audit requirements including Certificate of Recognition (COR) and Cleaning Industry Management Standards (CIMS)

Incident Investigations

  • Investigate incidents and near miss events in On, QC, and Atlantic. Developing appropriate corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence and present findings to our Operations teams

Coaching and Training

  • Facilitate training for WHMIS, health and safety orientations and other internal safety courses as required
  • Participate in the development and revision of safety training programs
  • Train Operations Teams to complete Field Level Hazard Assessments, Fall Protection Plans, and Equipment Pre-Use Inspections

Administration

  • Assemble and distribute all necessary health and safety documentation including manuals, posters, policies etc.
  • Enter records into software system ensuring all supporting documentation, tracking metrics, and data is up to date and maintained

What you'll need to succeed:


  • Bilingual French and English considered an asset
  • Must have Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or Diploma
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a health and safety role
  • Skilled in researching and understanding occupational health and safety legislation
  • Intermediate experience in MS Office and familiarity with Safety Management Systems
  • Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle to travel to multiple job sites as required
