JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:


  • This role in Security & Emergency Management is focussed on the management of Mandatory
  • Reliability Standards (MRS) and more specifically, Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) and
- physical security.

  • Specific responsibilities in this role include:
  • Conducts investigations of a highly confidential nature regarding physical security incidents and
potential thefts, including situations with employee/contractor involvement and/or stolen BC Hydro
- assets, throughout BC.
  • Ensures the protection of security sensitive information and plans and, where thefts are


confirmed, provides evidence to support criminal complaints and civil litigation.- Responds to high profile physical and employee security incidents, as required.


  • Maintains relationships with law enforcement, safety officials, and other BC Hydro departments,
within their assigned region.- Provides consulting services to management on a variety of issues concerning physical security

and the safe guarding BC Hydro's equipment and personnel.- Must be prepared to travel throughout the province of BC and posses a valid BC Driver's

License.- Complete local physical security plan workflows to ensure security site drawings are reviewed

and appropriate evidence is available.- Advise, coach and support responsible management when required to respond to regulatory

directives, orders, or penalties.- Physical security threat risk and vulnerability assessments for assets, projects, and our

operations.- Security plan development, implementation, and assurance including security controls and

procedures.- Liaison with staff on site to promote and sustain compliance with NERC standards CIP 006 and

CIP-01- Field-based assurance checks and investigations - also includes engagement and liaison with

workers in operations, construction management, capital projects, and contractors.

  • Ensuring security plans are integrated with the Security Command Centre and the security
system.


Qualifications:

***- University degree or experience in relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and

experience years progressively more responsible security investigation experience, preferably in a

corporate environment in the Electrical Utility industry or a minimum of 12 years police experience.- Demonstrated and proven experience, ability and knowledge in the following:
security governance, audit, risk and controls (including experience with designing, evaluating and
- implementing controls based on common security frameworks, such as NERC CIP, COSO,

  • COBIT, ISO, NIST).
  • Leading investigations, with ability to analyze and process a high volume of detailed information
with accuracy.- Experience working in a dynamic and reactive environment with the ability to juggle new

priorities in with existing priorities to ensure the most important compliance activity is delivered on
- time, including ability to delegate and attain assistance from others.
  • Experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control Program would be valuable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proven expertise in the investigation of criminal offences and security breaches, interviewing of
witnesses and gathering of evidence.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with groups

and individuals at all levels of the corporation.- Strong relationship management as well as proven ability to effectively collaborate with and

influence stakeholders, both internal and external.- Well established relationships within law enforcement (preferred).

  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
  • Experience and proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft excel, word, outlook and
  • Must have good time management's skills and the proven ability to work in a multitask
environment.- Background and experience in electrical utilities as well as experience in conflict resolution/

violence in the workplace would be as asset.
