About YMCA BC:

YMCA BC is part of an international and national movement that has brought lasting social change for more than 138 years.

Today, more than ever, we need to lean on each other and focus on what matters most for a strong future:
health, opportunity, inclusion and belonging. Across British Columbia, our charity is building vibrant, healthy, and inclusive communities where everyone can reach their full potential.

YMCA BC provides vital programs and services that have a positive impact on some of our communities' most pressing social issues, including health and wellness, inequity, affordable child care, mental health, employment services and newcomer settlement.

YMCA BC (YBC) is a large charity operation with over 2,000 staff and 600+ volunteers. It provides a wide range of programs and services in communities across the Lower Mainland, Northern and Central BC.

YBC was formed in 2023 through the amalgamation of three YMCAs:
Greater Vancouver, Kamloops, and Northern BC.

The boards at the time understood that delivering on their shared vision was better served in an environment where economies of scale, the creation of centres of excellence, and the development of staff and leaders were possible.

Families, children, adults, and seniors in more than 55 communities across the province can all belong, grow, thrive, and lead through YMCA BC.

There is a complex governance model that governs the unified organization. There are three distinct boards - the Operating Board, Foundation Board, and Properties Foundation Board.
