SUMMARY


The
Manager, Inclusivity and Accessibility will be a member of the professional services team on the RP1 contract and will play a key role in supporting the Government of Canada in fulfilling its mandate promise to introduce new accessibility legislation, and has committed to ensure equality, inclusion and full participation in society for all Canadians.


The primary overarching function of this position will be to lead the development and implementation of initiatives that increase support to PSPC in modifying current built areas to inform future design and delivery of a modern and inclusive environment.

The manager will carry an Architect designation or be a senior designer with proven experience in the said field.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with stakeholders, clients and external contacts, ensuring effective communication of accessibility and inclusivity activities.
  • Provides guidance and guidelines to all RP1 portfolios on PSPCs accessibility framework.
  • Acts as a liaison and first point of contact to address industry/Canada wide inquires and prepares a framework on the RP1 contract while working with PSPC counterpart.
  • Acts as the lead in attending PSPC and/or Government of Canada (Bill C81)/Industry led training and discussion sessions.
  • Collaborates with internal resources including Communications and Marketing teams to ensure external activities and materials reflect the needs of the program.
  • Recognizes and communicates success stories and testimonials to demonstrate our value of the program.
  • Supports PSPC with obtaining and maintaining tenant user feedbacks as part of accessibility and inclusivity audits and provides regular reports to the client.
  • Provides guidance to both Property and Projects team on major projects taking place in their respective facilities and leads charrettes, where appropriate, with users in conjunction in PSPC.

Governance

  • Identifies opportunities to educate and develop stakeholder communities.
  • Identifies gaps in knowledge and supports structures and seeks opportunities to continuously improve accessibility and inclusivity in client locations.
  • Provides proper orientation, presentations and staff awareness.
  • Assists with Business Management Process (BMP) project planning including prioritization taking accessibility requirements into account and assists with cost estimations.
  • Monitors and prepares a register for Accessibility Audits across all portfolios and keeps track of deficiencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • College Diploma or University Degree in related field such as building science or architectural technology
  • Minimum 10 years' experience implementing initiatives related to inclusion and accessibility
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, building/managing relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Experience in developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge, skill and experience in mediation, investigations, and group facilitation
  • The successful incumbent will possess a high degree of political acuity and judgment along with highly developed communication skills and an ability to manage difficult and emotionally charged interactions. They will have strong organizational and project planning skills, research and analytical skills and an open and creative approach to program solving
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in developing curricular resources
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity and inclusion, as they relate to curricular development
  • Superior communication skills, specifically written, editorial, and presentation
  • Proven ability to work independently and solve problems creatively using sound professional judgement
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail oriented, with emphasis quality and adherence to external and internal policies and procedures
  • Must have a wellrounded background in existing building repair and renovation architectural design and construction
  • Strong understanding of the engineering environment in architecture sector
  • Strong building envelope and building science knowledge considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced team environment
