Description
We are looking for individuals with their NCSO with:
Minimum five (5) years of industrial SSHE and trade/industry related experience- Imperial Oil Experience required for upcoming Project Work
- Available to Travel Hamilton, Simcoe and Brantford Area
- Provincial Construction Association Leadership course or industry equivalent (i.e. ACSA Leadership for Safety Excellence)
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software
- Clearly read, write and speak fluently in English (French communication is an asset)
- Strong leadership, influencing, teamwork, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated willingness to positively intervene on any unsafe act
- Ability to clearly and assertively communicate SSHE expectations, project objectives and manage change
- Work in challenging conditions (outdoors 8+ hours / day), and deal constructively with conflict
- Know and understand requirements of the current and applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Act, including Regulations under the Act
- Know and understand Workers Compensation Legislation, including Return to Work requirements
- Working knowledge of Fit for Duty expectations, A&D policies and Injury (Care) Management tactics
- Current First Aid Certificate (Level 3 preferred / Level 2 minimum) (preferred)
- Proficient in current TDG and WHMIS regulations and requirements (preferred)
- Certified in the use of a various noise (dosimeter) and gas testing equipment (LEL) (preferred)
- Clean driver License abstract
- Working at Heights and Confined Space certification
- Long and Short term contracts
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide safety input into project constructability reviews
- Understand all work scope and actively participate in project kickoff meetings to help raise awareness of safety concerns prior to the start of work
- Review and provide daily safety input into Contractor work plans
- Attend daily Contractor Toolbox meetings with project personnel, Contractor supervision and craft workers; participating in the discussions and providing guidance on safe work approaches
- Share relevant safety bulletins, incident learnings and lead discussions on various relevant safety topics at Contractors' Toolbox meetings.
- Verify Contractor documentation and work processes to ensure compliance with Contractor Safety Program and work permit system
- Immediately inform Supervision of any safety concerns or event that results in a potential or actual injury, illness, security, spill, equipment damage or other loss
- Coach Contractors on incident prevention, case management tactics and SSHE expectations
- Actively promote and encourage proactive safety behaviors including: hazard recognition and mitigation, near loss reporting, looking out for each other (actively caring) and stopping work to address safety concerns.
- Participate in incident investigations, identify root cause, share learnings and support action plan development.
- Verify Contractors training certifications to validate competencies to perform higher risk work
Salary:
$35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
