    Modern, bright facility with a surgical suite, dental suite, panoramic digital dental x-ray, regular x-ray, ultrasound, a full in-house lab and much more.

    We focus on fear free medicine, use PVP's and handle patients without unnecessary restraint. Our focus is on the human animal bond and an exceptional level of medicine.

    Our candidate will have:
    Completed a Veterinary Technologist or Animal Health Technology program.
    Exceptional organizational skills
    More than 5 years experience in clinical practice
    The desire to oversee, train, mentor colleagues.
    Surgical preparation, assisting and patient recovery.
    Ability to keep detailed and accurate patient records.
    Compassionate care for our hospitalized patients and their pet parents
    Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    Ability to problem-solve or the ability to ask clarifying questions to help you find solutions.
    Exceptional interpersonal skills in working with your colleagues and clients.

    Black Mountain Veterinary Hospital is a busy 2 vet practice where an enthusiasm to learn and develop skills is an asset.

    Each technician is encouraged to fully utilize their skills from surgical to medical care of the patients. If the right candidate expresses a special interest in a specific area (e.g. anesthesia or dentistry) this will be considered in their position with us.

    Duties:
    Assist veterinarians in providing medical and surgical care to animals.
    Training, mentoring vet assistants, new graduates, other RVT's
    Collection of blood samples
    Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples.
    Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
    Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures.
    Preparing medications and supplies for clients to take home
    Take and develop x-rays.
    Monitor and record vital signs of animals.
    Handling and maintaining specialized equipment, including setup, cleaning and sterilization.
    Knowledge of animal behavior and anatomy
    Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
    Client communication, education, and appointment schedule management
    Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment.
    Restrain and lifting of patients
    Positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning
    Demonstrate initiative in carrying out assignments independently
    Leadership capacity to work collaboratively with the entire team
