What YOU Will Do


Under the supervision of the Proposal Director / Project Director, the job holder's mission is to organize, mobilize, and oversee the technical direction of a project.

The areas under their responsibility cover all technical aspects of a project, including the design of permanent structures, planning methods, and the design of temporary structures, geotechnical studies, environmental studies, surveys, and the use of 3D modeling, traffic management during construction, the permit acquisition process, etc.


They are responsible for technical expertise on the project and, as such, provide technical solutions/alternatives, control quantities to be implemented, manage the progress of studies and deliverables, and their approvals.

They manage the project's technical team, including design managers and coordinators, and manage contracts with consultants engaged in the project.


Planning

  • Participate in the response to the project's Qualification Request, especially in terms of organizing technical teams and design, BIM implementation, defining services required by the methods and temporary works team, as well as the scope of design services required, roles and responsibilities allocation, and the choice of consultants.
  • Participate in establishing design service contracts in connection with the commercial and legal teams at each phase of a project (proposal and implementation), especially regarding the scope of services, schedule, and expected outcomes.

Project Execution (Proposal and Implementation Phases)

  • Plan, mobilize, and lead the internal technical team making up the project's technical direction.
  • Supervise the development and training of the internal technical team.
  • Participate in managing contracts for design services of permanent and temporary structures in connection with the commercial team.
  • Manage changes and/or additions to initial design service contracts, negotiate changes if necessary (scope of services, schedule, costs).
  • Supervise studies by the methods team and permanent and temporary structures.
  • Plan and manage interventions by the onsite survey team, methods team, and temporary works design team.
  • Review, validate, and ensure compliance with the overall schedule of studies and deliverables, consistent with the project schedule and milestones.
  • Assist the project team in establishing information systems and choosing software and tools for project design.
  • Produce a regular progress report (frequency to be determined with the Proposal Director / Project Director) on the schedule, cost, and various performance indicators established for project design; analyze performance, establish and implement preventive and/or corrective measures if necessary.
  • Ensure the proper coordination of activities among different engineering offices and methods offices, in relation to the construction team.
  • Control and validate the production of various deliverables throughout the review and optimization processes.
  • Establish and lead the project's technical committee, if necessary.
  • Participate in major technical reviews and validate key technical choices.
  • Participate in communication with suppliers and subcontractors on technical aspects and report important issues to the Project Director and other team members in the construction team.
  • Maintain a connection with owner representatives for elements under their jurisdiction.
  • Supervise design risk management, reporting design risks to the project's risk register if necessary.

Project Closure

  • Participate in lessons learned sessions and ensure archiving at the end of the project.
  • Assist the teams responsible for the financial closure of design contracts.
  • Participate in the evaluation of consultant performance.

What YOU Will Bring

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Be a member of a professional regulatory body.
  • Have at least 15 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Possess experience in civil and infrastructure projects (road infrastructure, bridges, transportation systems, etc.) or buildings executed in Design-Build or PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode or other alternative modes including design.
  • Have experience in managing the design of major, complex, and multidisciplinary projects.
