Description
Job InformationAs the Licensed Practical Nurse, Long Term Care, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents who have common well-defined nursing diagnoses.
Your delivery of service has a direct impact on the quality of life and satisfaction for the residents of the Northern Lights Special Care Home and their families.
When on shift, outside of regular business hours, you will assume a leadership role as the individual in charge of the facility.
You will be responsible for day to day activities of the home, act as the residents' advocate and facilitate communication between the resident, family, the resident care team and other health professionals.
You must have knowledge of and an ability to apply nursing processes (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and practice to ensure that the residents' physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, educational and daily living needs are met.
The ability to operate and/or use standard medical equipment such as but not limited to thermometers, NG tubes, sphygmomanometer, blood glucose monitor, Kangaroo pumps, suction etc.
are required.Typically the above qualifications would be attained through the successful completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate and two years of recent experience in a Long Term Care setting.
