Program/Department Summary


Jean Tweed Centre supports and operates a number of housing and residential programs for women and their families with histories of substance use and/or mental health concerns.


Position Purpose


As a
Resident Support Supervisor you will provide supervision and support a team approach to case planning, consistent with evidence-based practices in the fields of mental health and substance use; support your teams to manage crisis situations, conflict resolution, and risk assessments; provide coordination of the daily operations of the programs.


Responsibilities

Service

  • Support daytoday operations of the programs.
  • Provide coordination and support across teams to enhance continuity and quality of care.
  • Oversee the maintenance of documentation, including discharge summaries and clinical notes.
  • Maintain professional practice standards and any relevant reporting and licencing.
  • Oversee and complete statistics and reports on program activities and special projects where applicable.
  • Monitor implementation of policies and procedures within the department.
  • Represent the Jean Tweed Centre in the community.
  • Establish interdepartmental collaborative relationships.
  • As required, provide afterhours emergency coverage on a rotational basis.
  • Redeployment to various JTC Residential sites for support as needed
  • Monitor the safety, health and wellbeing of the clients under the program care.

Staff Supervision

  • Orient, train, supervise and coach program staff.
  • Participate in, and/or lead all relevant staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Formulate and schedule the work of program staff and authorize and effectively control the overtime work of such staff.
  • Facilitate team building via communication and positive working relationships with staff.
  • Support employees to supervise student placements and volunteers.

Organizational

  • Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma
- informed, women-centered and anti-oppressive practices.

  • Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
  • Maintain a client service orientation including learning about/addressing client needs and concerns.
  • Work collaboratively including respecting others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work or relevant field.
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in related field.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • Approach to leadership consistent with organizational values.
  • Knowledge and understanding of women's issues, particularly as they relate to women with substance use, mental health and/or gambling concerns.
  • Excellent decisionmaking, problemsolving and conflict/crisis management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships with individuals and teams.
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent individual and group supervisory skills.
  • Administrative, project management and program development skills.

Pay:
$60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
