Job Summary

  • The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Atlantic, housed at the Faculty of Management, provides startups with access to a network of accomplished entrepreneurs and investors. Originally conceived at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, CDL is one of the world's premier seed stage programs for massively scalable sciencebased ventures. The program targets companies that have the potential to transform our social, industrial and economic landscape. Reporting to the CDL
  • Atlantic Site Director, the Manager identifies and recruits new mentors and partners for each stream. In collaboration with the Site Lead, Director, and Dalhousie's development team, the position works to secure new donors and seek additional corporate partnerships to help advance the program's strategic fundraising priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • In concert with the Director, personally manage assigned relationships with all mentor types, corporate partners and founding partners. This requires establishing and maintaining relationships with experienced entrepreneurs, operators, angel investors and venture capitalists who are C Suitelevel executives.
  • Create opportunities to showcase partner expertise or offerings through valueadded Venture activities as part of the existing CDL-Atlantic program or as standalone events. This may include scoping, planning, and leading the execution of events.
  • Developing marketing/communications strategies that support fundraising campaigns and programs.
  • Compile donor prospect lists in collaboration with the CDL-Atlantic Site Lead and Director, as well as Office of Advancement colleagues and other CDL-Atlantic stakeholders. Engage in facetoface meetings with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities.
  • Research and identify potential government grant opportunities to support new and expanded initiatives.

Note

Evening and weekend hours are required throughout the program year, in particular in the lead up to events. Some travel is required.


The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.


Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree plus five years' relevant experience with highprofile stakeholders and delivery of largescale programs, including content development, communications, stakeholder recruitment, engagement and management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a shifting environment.
  • Strong written and technical skills
  • Ability to analyze data and produce reports for external partners

Assets

  • Master's degree or senior management experience.
  • Experience with GSuite, Salesforce, AirTable and Slack.
  • Past experience with fundraising and donor relations.
  • Experience working in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with a University environment.
