What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • provide technical leadership and coordination for the delivery of forest management planning for the northeast region
- provide expert advice to regional/ministry management/staff, inter-ministry partners, and senior representatives of the forest industry and related associations in Ontario regarding the implementation and delivery of regional forest management planning


How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:

You must possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation from the Ontario Professional Foresters Association or the ability to transfer designation from out-of-province and are able to practice professional forestry, without professional supervision.


Technical expertise:


  • You are wellversed in Ontario's forest management planning system.
  • You have a solid understanding of resource management principles, theories, methods and practices and understand government/ministry resource management planning objectives.
  • You have demonstrated experience/expertise in forest management planning and forest management, related legislation, regulations and policies.
  • You have the ability to provide expertise, guidance and support to regional operations related to forest management planning.
  • You are proficient with personal computers, internet, electronic mail, word processing, spread sheet and presentation software to access information, conduct analysis and prepare reports and presentations.

Planning, coordination and strategic thinking skills:

  • You have demonstrated ability to design and implement work plans to integrate and coordinate the on-time delivery of numerous products, assessments and services.
  • You have proven advisory and consultation skills to provide expertise to senior management and to act as the primary regional senior level contact for regional forest management planning issues.
  • You have the proven ability to prepare forest management planning delivery strategies and to coordinate training programs.

Interpersonal and communication skills:


  • You have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to write clearly and effectively at a professional level and prepare draft correspondence for senior management.
  • You have experience gaining support from and building consensus among various stakeholders with differing perspectives.
  • You have the ability to deliver high quality presentations to diverse audiences.
