- Cutblock layout and design
- Road Layout and Traverse knowledge
- Riparian identification and management strategies
- Biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification and stratification
- Soil texture identification
- Plant and tree species identification
- Traverse and assessment for road engineering cost estimates
- Fundamental knowledge of the 2020 Timber Cruising Manual (prerequisite for Timber Cruising only)
- Strong skills in Forest Measurement Practices
- Ability to train new cruising assistants
- 1 year experience in Timber Cruising
- ATV and Resource Road Driving experience
- Ability to lead and direct crews
- A safety conscious attitude
- The ability to be efficient, safe and timely in the field
- The demonstrated ability to both work independently and as part of a team
- The ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment
