Seeking mindful cleaners to join our residential eco-cleaning team

Are you passionate about everything clean and harmonious in a home? Do you enjoy meeting people, and working in service of the community? Do you have a bit of stamina to be able to clean for 3, 4, 5, 6 hours at a time, while also making a decent wage? Do you like the idea of being an independent contractor (which mostly means that you don't have taxes taken off your weekly pay)? Do you work well solo and with others (sometimes we work alone, sometimes in teams)? Do you have your own car?

Hi. My name is Sahaj and I'm the owner of this small Ottawa-based cleaning company.

My vision is to grow a company of calm joyful cleaners who love to work in varied environments, while also getting some good exercise, and being valued for the work they do.

This company is no ordinary cleaning company.

I believe in fair wages, quiet and varied work environments, with amazing clients who value and appreciate the work we do.

I know cleaning houses can be hard sometimes. That's true.

It can also be incredibly satisfying to see a house go from dirty and cluttered, to clean and calm, because of what we do.

I also believe cleaning is a necessary service to our community, that helps people immensely.

My company specializes in Green Cleaning and Eco Organizing and I'm passionate about clean, well-organized homes, and people, and making 'work' enjoyable.

I'm seeking mindful people to join our team of home refreshers. Right now, I'm looking specifically for casual cleaners to help out occasionally as needed.

We work Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm (although sometimes we do get requests for weekend cleaning also).

You may be asked to drive a bit as sometimes we have last-minute bookings in various areas of the city.

Job description

We have
flexible hours, depending upon whether or not you prefer to work 3 hours or 15 hours in a week.

Whether you're a mom who just wants to work mid-day a couple of days per week, or a student wanting to work a few hours, or you're really wanting to build yourself a full roster of clients, we have a schedule to suit your needs.

Great Wage Rates:

I typically start most of our cleaners at $22 per hour (and move you up to $25 per hour after your 30 day probation period, depending upon your previous cleaning experience).

You also get to keep any tips you make.

Write-off your expenses: given that you will be employed as a contractor, you'll have the bonus of being able to write off some of your car expenses, cleaning supplies, cell phone, and any other things you'll need for work.

Weekly Pay:
many companies pay once per month or even every 2 weeks.

I pay you once per week so that you never have to wait too long before getting paid, and I always pay my cleaners on time.

(Believe it or not, some companies do not).

Great Clients:

I've cleaned before, and still do on occasion, which is why I know how important it is to have great clients who are easy to clean for.

We attract great clients, which means I get to pass on that benefit to you. You'll love getting to know new and interesting people, who respect your work and your time.

Stay Green, Stay Healthy:

I've heard stories of cleaners who have developed serious health problems because of different products they've had to use while cleaning.

I say no to this, and only use non-toxic cleaners when working with our clients, to keep you strong and healthy.

Casual dress:
you get to work in your comfy clothes all day long

What I'm looking for:

Someone who is reliable and can show up to a client's home on time
Someone who loves to clean
Someone who loves to drive and is willing and able to drive to different parts of the city, in all weather conditions
Someone who has a valid driver's license and use of a car
Someone who can pass a background check
Someone who has the ability to listen to, and communicate well with others
Someone who is honest
Someone who likes to work hard
Someone who can take constructive criticism easily
Someone who takes pride in a job well done
