    Description

We are currently seeking a Research Associate for the corn and soybean seed Trialing team located at our Portage La Prairie Research Station. As a Research Associate, you will assist by identifying, characterizing and positioning superior performing early season corn and soybean products that meet business targets and identified market needs.

    This position is a 12 month fixed-term contract position that is renewable.

    Qualifications

    What will you do:

    • Work proactively and effectively with Team members to access land, equipment, and all other items needed for a field-testing program
    • Coordinate trial design, trial content, and trial fulfillment
    • Plant, maintain, and harvest trials with focus on field crops. This includes routine site/farm maintenance activities such as tillage, soil sampling, fertilizer applications, planting plots, applying/implementing treatments, collecting observations and in-season data, and maintaining the plots throughout the growing season
    • Collaboration with Syngenta NA colleagues to further Best Practices and opportunities in Canada
    • Take notes and coordinate note-taking on Stage 2-6 trials, input data

    You are someone with:

    • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in an Agricultural discipline is required
    • Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in an Agricultural field-based discipline/occupation. Prior experience working on a farm, grower, practical course, or internship/summer job will be considered.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract
    • Experience as a professional agronomist or researcher
    • Strong understanding of Soybean and Corn requirements and direction in Western Canada
    • Consideration for working knowledge of CSTA and PGDC requirements in Seed development would be an asset
    • Ability to operate and maintain farm and research equipment
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially those required to successfully function as part of a cross-functional team.
    • Must be authorized to work for Syngenta in Canada without work authorization sponsorship
