Position Description:


We are hiring a part-time casual genomics analyst to assist with variant interpretation on a project that links genome sequencing data and health administrative data to study mental health outcomes for children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders.

The successful applicant will be part of a research team of scientists and coordinators working to clinically translate findings from cutting edge genomic research into real world health outcomes that can help inform care.


Here's what you¿ll get to do:

  • Work with a team of physicians, scientists, genetic counselors, bioinformaticians, and research coordinators to complete the analysis of genomic data from a large existing dataset.
  • Analyze genome sequencing data and provide clinical variant interpretation as per guidelines.
  • Interpret and classify genetic variants relative to external databases and published literature.
  • Lead database curation for the purpose of subsequent data linking.
  • Receive support and training in genomics.
  • Have a flexible work arrangement, with onsite and/or remote work.

Here's what you¿ll need:


  • A Ph.
D. in molecular genetics or a related filed with experience in genomic variant interpretation and analysis in a clinical context.

  • Previous experience with interpretation of genetic variants and variant interpretation guidelines, and capacity to use relevant genomic databases and tools and resources (USCS, ClinVar, DGV, ACMG guidelines)
  • Familiarity with genetic test technologies.
  • Experience working with genome sequencing data.
  • Ability to critically analyze and interpret medical literature.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work as a team player and a high degree of independence.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in health administrative data analysis and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

Employment type:
Casual, 5-6 months contract
