Position Summary


Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Specialist will coordinate activities and initiatives in support of the corporate sustainability strategy, commitments, and reporting.

The Sustainability Specialist will play a key role in supporting third party events hosted on Stampede Park in achieving their sustainability and environmental targets for their event


The Sustainability Specialist will play a supporting role in formalizing, articulating and implementing the next chapter in the Stampede's approach to environmental sustainability.


Responsibilities
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide guidance and expertise to sales, event management and sponsorship teams to support client sustainability needs and objectives for events hosted on Stampede Park.
  • Analysis of event activities including emissions calculations, risk assessments and environmental impact to establish baseline metrics. Deliver on relevant reporting guidelines, compliance and certification requirements and establish event based environmental guidelines. Development of eventbased sustainability metrics that align with industry standard and best practice.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to support organizational and eventbased initiatives that impact their respective business units. Be an active and contributing member of the Employee Impact Committee. Acting chair of the committee in the absence of the Manager.
  • Contribute to the organizational pathway to achieve carbon and GHG emission targets. Implement established and enhanced valueadded sustainability and HGH offerings to the event industry.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements that address short, mid and long term organizational environmental goals. Contribute to ongoing compliance of relevant environmental certifications. Support internal and external environmental audits.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Post-Secondary Diploma or associate degree in environmental management, Studies or Science
  • 2 year's experience in implementing and managing corporate sustainability programs, energy conservation, environmental compliance.
  • Experience in energy and sustainability reporting and analysis including benchmarking and target setting
  • Exceptional communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to develop, motivate and work towards a common goal and vision.
