The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring a safe, quiet, respectable night environment at the hostel in accordance with HI Canada's policies, procedures, and mission statement.

The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring guests have a pleasurable stay by meeting their needs in a professional and courteous manner, and by providing excellent customer service.

This position is responsible for greeting guests, checking them in and out, performing cash transactions, the night audit, and answering questions in person and over the phone.


Responsibilities & Qualifications:


  • Ensuring the hostel and hostel grounds are safe and secure by performing regular checks of the property and responding to any issues in accordance with HI Canada and procedure
  • Using proper procedure at all times when dealing with disorderly guests
  • Performing nightly audits on the day's financial transactions and printing reports
  • Securing the safe and filling out deposit slips nightly
  • Creating a positive relationship with guests by being friendly, courteous and by making them feel comfortable from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave
  • Evaluating the needs of each customer and adapting the service to meet those needs
  • Performing transactions using RoomMaster and the cash register accurately and efficiently
  • Providing guests with clear, accurate information on the surrounding area including tourist attractions, special events, transportation, and directions
  • Communicating on a regular basis with hostel staff by using the communications book, attending staff meetings, and liaising with Management about any issues they need to be aware of
  • Communicating with other members of the HI Canada when necessary, including HI Canada hostels and Affiliates Hostels
  • Assisting housekeeping with maintaining the overall cleanliness of the hostel by performing housekeeping duties
  • Carrying out morning wakeup calls when requested
  • Assisting in the training of staff on HI Canada policies and procedures
  • Conducting monthly inventory counts
  • Liaising with police and fire department if necessary
  • Knowing and adhering to HI Canada policies and procedures
  • Performing other related duties as required

Salary/Wage:

18.50
