Job Overview:


The
Production Planning Manager is an integral part of the business working with operations fulfillment teams, engineering, sales distribution, finance and others to ensure production plan is maintained and accurate again sales forecast.

They will act as the hub of planning for hard rock products to ensure there is a centralized, multifaceted, consistent and controlled strategy around hard rock planning through multiple departments and sites.

They are responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining planning processes and controls from engineering release to commercial forecasts/sales orders to manufacturing production schedules and procurement/material availability for all hard rock OE drilling and LHD/Truck products manufactured in Canada and the U.S.


Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Own the S&OP process ensuring all information is consolidated between sales, procurement, and manufacturing of all hard rock products independent of procurement and manufacturing sites.
  • Facilitate the NPD product transition to preproduction builds working with engineering to ensure timelines for final product releases are coordinated through procurement and manufacturing.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the master production schedule (MPS) to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of material and labour capacity planning.
  • Constructs master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Convert master production schedule into weekly plan and daily work assignment schedules that manage constraints of manpower, equipment and optimize costs in collaboration with manufacturing engineering.
  • Prepare long and shortterm capacity plans based on production capacity, model mix, supply requirements and support of the sales forecasts.
  • Manage the schedule review process including demand planning, forecasting, plant production planning and import planning to achieve hard rock OE stock inventory target levels and avoid inventory stock outs or excess inventory.
  • Manage open communication of production schedules through various departments from engineering, supply chain to commercial teams to ensure prioritization cascades through organization and customer expectations are maintained and managed through commercial channels. Draws up master production schedule to meet customer requirements according to sales forecasts and/or customer orders utilizing the scheduling function within the ERP system.
  • Efficiently schedule production to maximize throughput, use of labor, minimize changeovers and waste.
  • Develop planning KPIs that measure performance of functional department contributions to business commitments and health including on safety, quality, delivery, cost, etc.
  • Identifies and documents risks and countermeasures with mitigation plans.
