12-month Contract

Basic Purpose:


Participating in all technical aspects relating, primarily to, LCMSMS analysis, including method development, validation and optimization; method transfer to new instrumentation and spearheading projects within the Food Residue labs.

Responsible for carrying samples analysis in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Health and Safety policies.

Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirement.


Key Accountability/Responsibilities:


  • Perform method validation studies and summarize data for method validation studies in according to SOPs and validation plans, including accuracy/precision, MDLs, MUs etc.
  • Develop and revise relevant SOP's, WI's and FCD's.
  • Prepare and analyze test samples in accordance with SOPs using complex analytical instrumentation, such as LCMSMS.
  • Process, review, and interpret analytical data including data validation of routine production for release to client.
  • Prepare reagents and standards as per SOPs, and ensure standard verification is performed prior to use.
  • Operate and maintain all necessary instruments and equipment to complete tasks (computers, volumetric dispensers, balances, temperature devices, etc).
  • Review LIMS summary report to plan and prioritize daily work to accommodate due dates and rush requests.
  • Provide Supervisor/Manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays.
  • Participate in internal/external audits and contribute to investigations/corrective actions.
  • Identify and document all known sample deviations, nonconformances, and/or process deviations and report to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Assist analysts, technicians and other members of management; provide support as necessary.
  • Train and develop staff, ensuring training documentation is completed in timely manner.
  • Organize and direct staff and workflow within the group(s) to ensure samples are processed and reported according to due dates and client needs.
  • Participate in and provide support during internal and external audits.
  • Identify problems, provide feedback, and recommend solutions (technical, procedural & quality) to Supervisor/Manager to make lab more effective and competitive.
  • Initiate Non Systemic Corrective Action Reports and Corrective Action Reports; investigate and resolve based on root cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a positive work environment for employees.
  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program.
  • Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings.
  • Participate, when requested in internal and external audits.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
  • Provide general lab support.
  • Maintain training records and relevant qualifications.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:


  • A minimum of B.Sc. Degree in a chemical science or equivalent from a recognized academic institution.
  • At least 8 years of experience in laboratory environment and LCMSMS instrumentation, experience with Food as a matrix is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to assess problems and recommend solutions.
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
