Description

The role will dispatch all LOB's in Pickering. Oversee and provide leadership to all employees with the ability to communicate to them daily and sometimes after hours.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule and dispatch calls based upon designated route, driver location and intended receiving site.
Perform driver check-ins at day's end to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion
Distribute, collect, and review route sheets for prior days.
Ensure coordination with other departments such as operations and other receiving sites
Document and report customer complaints and concerns
Attend driver meetings as required (usually 5am)
Oversee that all employees are adhering to company policies and procedures
Track and maintain driver training matrix. Schedule training as to not disrupt the schedule.
Compliance with all regulatory bodies (TDG, MOL etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Completion of high school. Postsecondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
12 years in a transportation, dispatch or customer service role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer focus.
Proven ability to multitask & ability to prioritize tasks.
Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word.
Knowledge of industry an asset.

Road Map & Goals:

GFL programs to learn (Geo Tab, Oms, M5, Flex)
Familiarize yourself with every type of truck we dispatch and its capabilities
Review driver paperwork packages, waste types and codes
Ride along with a driver from each LOB
Learn location of all GFL waste receiving sites and what waste types they receive
Train to be added to the on-call schedule. (Once every 6 weeks)
Take your time, ask questions and be a team player
